The Wise and Foolish Builders by Alexandra Teague

The Wise and Foolish Builders by Alexandra Teague explores the home, now museum, of Sarah Winchester, heiress to a fortune made from selling the rifles used to settle the West.  Legend has it that Sarah was told by a fortune teller to continuously build a home so that the ghosts who had been killed by the rifles could never find her.  This book not only explores the home and Sarah herself, but also the figures and events of the time, and the enduring consequences left by the invention of the rifle.  Houdini, bison, Annie Oakley and ghosts all make appearances.  The poems range in form and length, as well as point of view.  Notes on Sarah Winchester and specific poems are included at the back of the book.
