Ricantations by Loretta Collins Klobah

Ricantations by Loretta Collins Klobah is a collection of poetry grounded in various historical moments and perspectives of key figures throughout the history of Puerto Rico; often integrating American and Latin historical political references in her poems.

Klobah crafts stories about subjects living in present day while also allowing the reader to sense a remnants of past struggles such as in her poem “He Talks to a Butterfly.” In other poems such as “Ricantation”, she gives very detailed looks into lives of those experiencing moments in history (Hurricane Maria).

All of the poems are accompanied by notes and a glossary that can be found in the back of the book to give readers more context into each poem.
