The Sugar Mile by Glyn Maxwell

The Sugar Mile by Glyn Maxwell

These extended narrative poems which roll into one another. While the book begins and ends with poems in the author's voice, the author is primarily silent in this work. The poems use repetition, crossing out, and dramatic monolog/dialog to bring the reader across time and space. The book explores/ deals with the memories of London during the blitz in WW2 and the now of NYC around September 11th, 2001 (which is now cultural memory). Each character gets their own poet forms to strengthen their individual voices from sestina to rhyming couplets.

This book of poems has no table of contents or notes!
